Techniques for Establishing and Maintaining Audio Loudness for Digital Television; Understanding How NBC

In April of 2007, The Advanced Television System's Committee (ATSC) recognized a need to investigate and document how to effectively apply the DTV audio standard. At that time, a technical experts group was formed within the ATSC with a goal to surface issues and write a recommended practice on audio loudness for digital television. That work is in its final stages of completion.

This presentation will explain how NBC Universal manages cable and broadcast audio loudness for digital television by applying the concepts contained in the forthcoming ATSC Recommended Practice: Techniques for Establishing and Maintaining Audio Loudness for Digital Television.
